Voice input into the app reduces the burden on busy caregivers.
SANN Inc., which provides "Care-All", a cloud-based service that supports staff working in group homes for people with disabilities by assisting with daily care and support tasks. We spoke with Mr. Taguchi, Director of the Corporate Planning Office, about how they came to adopt speech recognition technology and why they chose the AmiVoice API.
Issues/background
Concerns about staff shortages at facilities and digital compatibility among older staff
In the field of care for people with disabilities, in addition to quantitative records such as vital data like body temperature and blood pressure, and food intake, many facilities also value qualitative records such as information based on each resident's individual characteristics and daily events. Given the issue of staff shortages at these facilities, it is necessary to record this information as efficiently as possible. However, even when digitalization is promoted to improve efficiency, there are many cases where older staff members are unable to use the system properly, leading to setbacks.
In response to the needs of the field, such as the desire to record a large amount of information efficiently and to make it easy for even older staff members to use, we decided to add a voice input function to our business support cloud service, "Care All."
Key Drivers of the Adoption
Domestic Speech Recognition with Proven Performance in the Medical Field
When selecting a speech recognition engine, we initially focused on domestic solutions because the app relies on Japanese-language input. After comparing several vendors, we ultimately chose AmiVoice. Since many of our clients work in the disability welfare and nursing care sectors, we were particularly drawn to AmiVoice’s strong track record in the medical field and its proven expertise in medical speech recognition.
The difficulty of implementation
There were no issues during the implementation of the app, and the process went very smoothly. From the perspective of the development manager, there were no complaints from the engineers who were actually involved in the system build. The Mypage interface is very easy to understand, and we have not encountered any challenges in our daily operations. We can also consult with our sales representative at any time, and they have become a reliable partner for us.

Impact of the Implementation and Future Outlook
Easily record between support sessions. Smooth recognition of special terms.
In between busy tasks of supporting and caring for residents, they can now simply take their smartphone out of their pocket and talk to it, and the support details can be converted into text and recorded as notes or handovers. What's more, it's also great that special words used in the support field or words unique to the facility can be registered in advance, which means there's no mistranslation and it's stress-free. As a result, even older staff members can now input data smoothly, and we've been able to move forward with digitalization while reducing the burden on busy sites.
We hope that by having many more facilities use Care All in the future, we can help to improve operational efficiency and visualize support provided through family collaboration, thereby helping to alleviate the shortage of staff in the nursing care field.

Staff entering data into the app
Service Overview

"Care All" is an app launched in January 2024 that allows group homes to manage everything from entering support records to managing various billing requests all in one place on the cloud. Developed jointly with group homes and incorporating their own opinions, it is a work efficiency app that anyone can use.
This will promote operational efficiency and increase productivity in group homes, where analog and inefficient operational management is often done using paper and verbal methods. At the same time, the function that allows support records and activity records to be shared in real time with related institutions such as families of persons with disabilities and care facilities will achieve highly transparent support, i.e. "visualization of support." By utilizing digital technology, we will promote digital transformation in the field of support for persons with disabilities.
